MISUMI Group Inc. (Head Office: Bunkyo ward, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO, Ryusei Ono)
announced today that it will provide sponsorship as an Official Partner to the World Robot Summit 2018 scheduled to
be held between October 17th to 21st 2018.
The World Robot Summit (hereafter “WRS”) is organized by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and
New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) with the view of bringing about a world
where humans and robots can co-exist. It’s a competition event held by bringing together the excellence of what the
robotics industries around the globe has to offer. The WRS will feature two events: 1) World Robot Challenge
(“WRC”) where robots will compete with one another and 2) World Robot Expo (“WRE”) where the latest robotic
technologies will be showcased. Participants from all over the world will come together in one location with the
purpose of accelerating R&D and practical introduction and implementation of robots within both the personal and
industrial sectors of society. Under the conceptual theme of “Robotics for Happiness,” WRS is gaining a lot of
attention from various quarters as the first international robotics contest being led by the Japanese government.
MISUMI has been focused on development of young engineers through its sponsorship through events such as
ROBO-ONE, a competitive biped robot battle tournament as well as sponsoring “Student Manufacturing Support
Program”. Sponsoring WRS is part of this initiative. MISUMI will be sponsoring activities set by WRS and will be
supporting the Industrial Robotics category (Assembly Challenge). We will continue fostering human development
supporting the future of manufacturing
