In 2018 MRV carried out the planting of more than 137 thousand trees

Imagine performing 55,574 car trips between the Brazilian cities of Oiapoque and Chuí. This number is equivalent to almost 54 thousand tons of CO2 removed from the atmosphere due to the planting of 137,044 tree seedlings carried out by MRV in 2018. In the Southeast there were 61,463 seedlings, followed by the Midwest with 28,459, South with 21,969, Northeast with 17,004 and North with 8,149 plantations In all, the construction company invested more than R $ 21 million in this project.

According to Jose Luiz Esteves da Fonseca, MRV’s executive manager of Safety, Health and Environment (HSE), the construction company has as its guidelines the environmental responsibility and the improvement of infrastructure in the vicinity of its works. The planting of trees, carried out since 2010, is part of a series of actions with these objectives. “MRV has as part of its process the preservation of existing native green areas surrounding its projects and the implementation of more wooded environments. In eight years more than 1 million trees were planted, always with the care to privilege the native species appropriate to the climate and soil of the cities where the plantations occur. For this year we expect to plant more than 120 thousand seedlings, “he adds.
